When carps suck a boilie, it moves very fast into their mouth. Easy to cast with "catapult "or "throwing stick"(see baiting tools) The shape travels well through the air. Easy to recognize in the bottom
*** Why different sizes: The micro boilies (12 mm diameter) almost the same size of the biggest corn grain.You will catch a lot of carps if you used the Micro boilies because the fish take easily this small bait because it looks the same size of clams or grainsl. *** Default of dough bait or soft pasta :
The softer the boilie, the more fragile it is. Crayfish, mussels,minnow, clams, zipper mussels or shad can eat this bait because it is soft and it is easy for any fish or turtles to clean up your swim. The longer a soft boilie stays in the water more it becomes softer and softer, and more ineffective. A soft boilie’s flavor spreads very fast in the water but all those baits do not stay effective all day in the water, so, you have to change your bait very often (each hour)on your hair and also bait more frequently. Soft boilies swell in the water. So, when you hook the boilie on the hair, the boilie becomes bigger and takes all the length of your hair and your boilie is no longer at the right distance from your hook, in this case you can miss the fish. The softer the boilie is the less time it will last. The softer the boilie is the more the cat fish will like it.Cons: 1)Doesn't stay on your hook when you cast far or in deep water.2) When the bait is going down most of the time the bait is gone or when you bring back your leader there is no more bait on your hook.3)The fish can take off the bait easily from the hook because the bait is soft so easy to take off and you miss a lot of fish.If you want to lose time and money for nothing keep going!
*** Advantage of hard bait (Boilies)
 Your hard boilie will stay on your hair-rig because nothing in the water can eat it except carp. The harder the boilie is the more you will be sure your boilie will never change its size even after a long time in the water. The harder it is, the stronger it is. The harder it is the less the flavor goes away and the longer the boilie stays active in the water. Perfect for pre baiting because they are effective for many days in the water. The harder it is the easier it is for casting (throwing stick or catapult). If you use soft boilies, you will see them broke before they go into the water. The pressure from your throwing stick will damage your soft boilie. Only carp can eat a hard boilie , because carp have big teeth in the back of their mouth which are as big as human's teeth. We call these teeth the ”pharagian teeth”. These teeth are able to break mussels, clams or crayfish so it is easy for any carp to eat hard boilies. During the summer time (hot weather), soft boilies can break into two parts, you don’t have any problems with the hard boilies. The harder the boilie the less the cat fish like it. Boilies select the biggest carp compared with any seed bait. 99% of the biggest fish taken the last 25 years were with boilies.
